LucidLab – a division of Communication Lab
LucidLab is a specialised service unit of H&H Communication Lab – The Readability Resource.
As experts in lay-friendly language for the last 10 years, H&H Communication Lab has been translating texts with complex content into everyday language. We work for a wide range of renowned and well-known companies from many different industries, from insurance and banking to utility and telecommunications.
With LucidLab, we have opened a division specialising in medical texts. The focus lies on the transfer of medical specialist information into patient- and amateur-friendly language, in particular with respect to lay summaries of clinical trial reports. Of course, we are also happy to assist you with other medical texts that must be transformed for lay readers.
Our team and network of professional experts from different disciplines will support your projects according to your needs. We can accompany you throughout the entire process of creating medical texts, from writing texts to translating them into lay language, always with careful attention to regulatory guidelines from individual countries.
As a communication specialist, I have been researching and working intensively with effects of business communication for over 10 years. My team and I accompany businesses as they create a comprehensible and unified corporate language. We offer support at each step of the process, from assessing business communication to writing lay-friendly text, throughout the development of language standards and terminology rules, all the way to implementing software.

Regulatory Compliance / User Testing
I specialise in patient communication within the strict framework of regulatory compliance. My main focus is on the regulatory requirements for SmPC/PL and Labelling, and transferring specialied content into simple, patient-friendly language. My team works not only with EU regulatory compliance, but also with producing patient-friendly documents and testing readability throughout Europe.

As quality manager, my focus is on avoiding sources of error right from the start. We do this with our translator team, which is made up of only native speakers working in the specific field of interest for each project. We also base our workflow on DIN EN SIO 17100: 2016 and on working with our clients to establish the best possible process for their texts.

Medical WritingI have a background in medicine and biochemistry, and over the past 8 years I’ve used this knowledge base in the service of medical writing. I have extensive experience authoring Phase I and II clinical trial reports, including trials in special patient populations. My specific strengths include assessment, analysis and simplification of clinical data and producing documents tailored to the reading level of the target audience.
Language ConsultingAs a language instructor and writing consultant, I have worked with students and professionals in Colombia, the US and Germany. I understand the difficulties that often arise for non-native speakers who are writing in English. Beyond addressing typical grammar and syntax problems, I also help writers revise for tone, structure and style to ensure that they clearly reach their target audience. My one-on-one coaching experience with medical writers in Germany gives me critical background to complement the LucidLab team.
SalesI have a linguistics background and 15 years of working experience in the publishing sector. At different stages of my publishing career, from telephone operator to press aide up to editorial support, I have been the helpline and first contact point for clients, authors and journalists. By becoming a member of the LucidLab family, I changed sides and went from story-telling to service-selling. Today I am responsible for key-account and sales around your medical writing issues. My ears and eyes are wide open to your questions. Let´s get in touch and communicate!
TextLab Product ManagerAs product manager, I am responsible for maintenance and further development of TextLab. At the same time, I am the contact person for TextLab users: I guide novice users through their first steps with the software and help experienced users with advanced questions. Beyond user support, my background in computational linguistics makes me a specialist for terminology projects and transferring company guidelines in language rules.
